Tongue-Tie and Lip-Tie Procedure Near You
A tongue and/or lip tie is a physical condition where the use of the tongue and or lip is limited. These can cause issues eating, sleeping, speaking and increase the risk for cavities. If you suspect your child has a tongue-tie or lip-tie, Dr. Lynn will conduct a comprehensive assessment. This evaluation will allow him to determine the cause of the issues being experienced by your child. If it is confirmed that a tongue-tie or lip-tie is the culprit, Dr. Lynn will completely release it in a single, simple procedure. To perform the procedure Dr. Lynn with use a non-touch laser for a quick, clean release. He will not use sedation or general anesthesia for infants and will go beyond a traditional snip or clip.
How Does This Procedure Work?
Release
In a single 10-15 second procedure, Dr. Lynn will easily release ties using a state-of-the-art CO2 dental laser. The CO2 laser does not cut tissue, instead it “vaporizes” the tissue with light energy. As it vaporizes tissue, the CO2 laser seals small blood vessels, resulting in very little to no bleeding. Additionally, it sterilizes at touch for less risk of infection. In clinical cases, there is little to no discomfort using CO2 laser as it only penetrates microns into tissue.
Recover
Dr. Lynn will provide parents with at-home exercises to practice with their infants for optimal results. He will go over instructions to prevent reattachment as well as recommend post-operative follow ups with lactation or body work specialists. Stretches should be performed approximately four times per day for the first 4-6 weeks. One-week post-procedure, Dr. Lynn will follow-up with you and your child to ensure proper healing and recovery!

Dr. Lynn will provide parents with at-home exercises to practice with their infants for optimal results. He will go over instructions to prevent reattachment. Stretches should be performed approximately four times per day for the first three weeks. One-week post-procedure, Dr. Lynn will follow-up with you and your child.
Results
The improvements following this procedure for infants in aren’t always instantaneous. Although most mothers notice an improvement immediately in their infant’s ability to nurse, it may require more time for the child to adapt to using an unrestricted tongue. Within a few minutes to a few weeks, speech is often improved. The results from CO2 laser are beautiful tissue and less chance of relapse.
